  1. Garbage Patch

From the recording Garbage Patch

The great Pacific Garbage patch refers to an expanse in the North Pacific Ocean roughly twice the size of Texas with high concentrations of plastic pollution.

Lyrics

Chorus 1:
It floats and it floats and soaks and coats the coats of jellyfish, grown into it
The animals are chewing the plastic
The animals are doing fantastic
It gloats and it gloats 'cause it will float forever in the sea, those PCBs
The animals are chewing the plastic
The animals are doing fantastic

Verse One:
Here we go, to the middle of the ocean, where there's a slow circulating motion, drawing in debris, from you and me
Mostly starting with a ā€œPā€ (PLASTIC!) where it isn't supposed to be
In these whirlpools, the eco system doesn't think that it's too cool, because it comes from us fools
I'm not some liberal that's filled with delusion, this is the truth, some real serious pollution!

Pre chorus 1:
Pieces of styrofoam, floating next to a pocket comb. And take look at those soda rings, and tell me why nobody cut those things!

Verse Two:
Now here's a story about the discovery of the situation came from an alteration of a sailor's charted course
Slightly to the north, the captain steamed ahead with force!
He found very calm seas, with plastic baggies (unexpectedly!) floating near the surface
Tires, toys and trash people now deem worthless, has created us a toxic circus...

Chorus 2:
It floats and it floats and soaks and coats the coats of jellyfish, grown into it
The animals are chewing the plastic
The animals are doing fantastic
It gloats and it gloats 'cause it will float forever in the sea, those PCBs
The animals are chewing the plastic
The animals are doing fantastic

Verse 3:
These words are for the birds, turtles and fish that only wish we were aware of how unfair it is to live among these
Chunks of pink and yellow, green and blue, all kinds of hues.
These colorful bits are mistaken for food that they chew, swallow and then eventually (WALLOW!) and end up sitting on your dinner plate, and for all you seafood lovers, I guess that's not so great.

Pre chorus 2:
So many water bottles, drifting round in this debacle; don't shrug this off and say whatever because like diamonds, plastics are forever.

Verse 4:
So now you'll maybe think twice about throwing things away that don't decay (EASILY!),
Reducing plastics doesn't have to be drastic.
It's real easy to reuse, it's only up to you to choose, to change your ways and tell all your friends that we've got awareness to raise, cause that's what Captain Moore will be doing all the rest of his days.
